Music Audience and Venue Dashboard
The OpenMusE Live Music Census Dashboard presents a comprehensive analysis of data collected during the inaugural European Live Music Census, conducted on October 11, 2024. This census encompassed five major European cities: Heidelberg and Mannheim in Germany, Helsinki in Finland, Vilnius in Lithuania, and Lviv in Ukraine. The initiative aimed to capture a detailed snapshot of live music activities across these diverse urban centers.
The left column is dedicated to the Music Audience Dashboard, which offers insights into various aspects of the live music scene, including:
- Audience Engagement: Data on event preferences, attendance frequency, age distribution, and travel distances.
- Motivators and Barriers to Attendance: Information on factors motivating to or preventing audiences from attending more live music events.
- Value of Live Music: Data on the spending habits, as well as the personal cultural value of live music.
The right column shows the Music Venue Dashboard, which offers insights into various aspects of the live music scene, including:
- Venue Information: Information on key live music venues.
- Challenges: Data on the challenges live music venues face within a city.
- Future Optimism: Information on attitudes of venue owners and managers concerning sustainability, corruption, or future optimism.
By analyzing this data, the Music Audience Dashboard aims to measure the value of live music from the audience perspective and offer insights into motivators and barriers to live music attendance. The Music Venue Dashboard aims to identify challenges faced by venues, thereby informing future policies to support and develop a sustainable live music ecology.
This initiative builds upon the methodology of the UK Live Music Census of 2017, aiming to provide a detailed understanding of the live music landscape in Europe. The findings are expected to inform policy-making across Europe for years to come.
